There are two ways to perform a trade:
A. When you place an order that goes on the order book partially or fully (Maker), a passive order is registered on the order book. Each order has a quantity and a price. Also, Passive Orders can be canceled at any time, as long as it has not been completed. These orders are registered on the order book until they are completely fulfilled or canceled. Furthermore, these orders add volume to the order book, helping to “make the market”.
B. Performing an Active Order (Taker). When you place an order that trades immediately, by filling partially or fully, before going on the order book, those trades will be taker trades. Active orders are traded immediately and they cannot be canceled, except the remainder that continues as passive (Maker).
